Far on the other side of the planet, in a black plain of volcanic glass, a titanic crack rings out. A fissure spills out acrid smoke and steam and, up through the clouds, something crawls. It raises itself to two feel and breathes in the air, searching for the scent of a new world about to be born. It opens its mouth and screams.
