Max hefts himself up onto the lip of the enormous crater. The heat is incredible. The weight of the air around him, immense. He squints his eyes and, shielding his face with his hands, stares down at the wonder below him, bright oranges and blinding yellows roiling in tight, silent conflagration beneath a membranous shell.
